Curriculum
Residence is an expectation for all pupils between Y4 - Y8. This experience enables pupils to be fully immersed in activities beyond the school day which continue to focus on fostering healthy relationships with peers and staff. We find that our pupils thrive when provided with opportunities to overcome their social emotional and mental health barriers in an environment which is more informal than the school day. All activities are planned with the objective of tackling key barriers to learning for the pupils, building on their cultural capital and can be adapted to meet the emerging needs of the pupils. Staff planning takes into account the interests and hobbies of the pupils in building a programme of activities where pupils can succeed and grow in confidence. Pupils also read and are read to every evening which complements the ambitious curriculum offered throughout the school day and the intent that all pupils will become happy, successful and self-fulfilling adults.
